THE SUN

The centre of attraction when cloudless skies are at attention

A yellow-like contraption who heat and light are its intention

The centre of the universe, or my friends like to think so

The source of all diverse life for the galaxy and our own home

Beyond reach yet so close, we feel your presence

And without enough dose, leaves mourn your absence

Like a happy child, you stretch in the morning as you rise

With a smile so mild, you bid us sleepyheads arise

A little while later, your smile is in full bloom

The world is lit up, no single place in gloom

Sometimes it gets too hot; we wonder what we’ve done wrong

But we thank God for our lot; and the sun that makes our bones strong
